CEO, Kreatif Ink Media celebrates birthday with orphanage •Donates books to schools



It was a fun filled day for children at the Total Parental Guardian Home, Mobil, Ibadan, when entertainment journalist, Doyin Adeoye celebrateesire to give the children a sense of belonging and excitement.
“Today is not about celebrating myself, but these children. I have been here a couple of times and I just felt the need to celebrate the day with them. They are beautiful and they deserve all the fun they had and even more,” she said.
While receiving the celebrants and her friends, d her birthday with friends and well-wishers at the home. Speaking on what influenced the gesture, Doyin said the celebration was born of the dthe matron of the home, Evangelist Grace Akpan, appreciated the gesture, while also praying that God will continue to be a source of strength to her.
“Celebrating the children definitely means a lot to them. And we pray that God will reward you for this. I must confess that it is not easy running an orphanage, but with well-meaning individuals like her, it is helpful. And we really appreciate this,” Akpan said.
Highlights of the event were presentation of various materials ranging from food items to clothing, books, toys, provisions, toiletries and other items by the celebrant; talks; game time for the children; a tour of the home; dance and other colourful activities.
Ibadan’s finest artiste, Fabulous Pizzy, the ‘So Fun Won’ crooner was also on ground to entertain the children.
Meanwhile, to also mark her day, the child lover also distributed free books to hundreds of students across 10 secondary schools in the city.
Written and designed herself, the book, which she tagged ‘quick review’ is a compilation of all the topics and key points in the syllabus of the subject, Government, which was distributed to students in SSS1 and SSS2 across the schools.
Speaking on what influenced the project, she said it is a way to encourage reading habits among the students, as well as to support the less privileged among them.
“Many students are often scared of reading voluminous textbooks, so I thought to myself that one way to make reading appealing to them is by making the book less cumbersome and attractive, and that way, they will fall in love with it without them even knowing it. They might feel they are just going through key points, but the truth is it covers everything in their notebooks and textbooks.
“Also, I observed that many parents cannot afford to buy these textbooks for their children and I felt the need to help,” she said.
An average of 100 students were given the books at each school and some of the schools that benefitted from the programme are Oba Abass Aleshinloye Grammar School, Eleyele; Eleyele Secondary School 1; Olubi Memorial Grammar school, Molete; Ansar-ud-deen High School, Liberty Road; and St Annes School, Molete.
Others are Ibadan Grammar School, Molete; Saint Theresa’s College, Oke-Ado; St Lukes Grammar School, Molete; Eyinni High School (Snr), Orita; and Ibadan Boys High School.
Mrs Adeniji S.S, Principal, Ansar-ud-deen High School, appreciated the effort, saying it is worth emulating.
“This is a laudable idea. Having gone through it, it is a summary of the whole syllabus and it will help the students a lot. This gesture from Doyin Adeoye is really appreciated. Also some of these students are from very low backgrounds, where getting textbooks can be very difficult, so by doing this, she is not only helping the students, but also the parents and government as well,” she said.
In the same vein, the Vice Principal Academics, Ibadan Grammar School, Mr Ajadi Emmanuel Akinsola also appreciated the gesture.
“The writer has done a good work in helping the students offering government to have a quick review of what they have been taught in various topics. This is a very commendable exercise and we pray that God will continue to help her.”
One of the 138 students who received the free books at Saint Theresa’s College, Sekinat, appreciated the gesture, adding that they will endeavour to make the most of the material.
